Claire Foy (The Crown) will play Lisbeth Salander in Fede Alvarez’ (Don’t Breathe) English language adaptation of the fourth book in the Millennium series, The Girl In The Spider’s Web, following on from Stieg Larsson’s original trilogy which began with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Män som hatar kvinnor).
In The Girl In The Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz, Salander becomes the target of ruthless cyber gangsters, and a violent criminal conspiracy brings terror to the snowbound streets of Stockholm, to the Millennium team, and to Blomkvist and Salander themselves.
Fede Alvarez said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled about Claire taking the reins of the iconic Lisbeth Salander. Claire is an incredible, rare talent who will inject a new and exciting life into Lisbeth. I can’t wait to bring this new story to a worldwide audience, with Claire Foy at its center.”
The Girl In The Spider’s Web, adapted by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), begins production in January in Berlin and Stockholm, and is set for a theatrical release on October 19th 2018.
