According to Göteborgs-Posten, writer and lawyer Jens Lapidus is developing a new legal drama for TV4, thought to be called Advokaterna (The Lawyers), to premiere in autumn 2017.
Advokaterna will be a ten part legal drama about a young lawyer named Frank who is working on a big case that highlights parallels between his own family and Stockholm’s criminal gangs. The script for the TV series has been written by Lapidus along with Michael Hjorth and Hans Rosenfeld (creator of The Bridge), who have previously collaborated on Sebastian Bergman.
“TV media offers opportunities to tell stories in a different way, while the format is actually reminiscent of literature,” says Lapidus. “American television series often comprise approximately ten to twelve hours. If you listen to any of my books as audiobooks they usually last about as long, maybe ten to fifteen hours. I think it is very exciting for me to explore there.”
Producer Jon Nohrstedt notes that: “To my knowledge there has never been a lawyer series in Sweden. It’s exciting, modern and has been developed into a pure thriller.” He adds that he is in final negotiations for broadcast with several TV channels and believes that there is also significant interest abroad.
