During a press conference in Stockholm it was announced that the songs of Tomas Ledin are to be crafted into a romantic musical comedy starring Malin Åkerman (Billions), entitled En del av mitt hjärta (A Part Of My Heart).
Malin Åkerman plays Sensuella isabella, a powerful woman who works in Stockholm’s financial district. But when she returns to her hometown for a wedding, she enters into a love triangle with an old flame (Christian Hillborg) and his fiancée (Shima Niavarani), and is forced to learn a few lessons about life.
The film will take the same “jukebox musical” approach as Mammia Mia, which featured the songs of ABBA. Tomas Ledin was initially hesitant about the project, but gave scriptwriter Lars ”Vasa” Johansson a playlist of 30-40 of his favourite songs, and Lars returned nine months later with a script weaving a story through 16 of them.
Tomas Ledin told Dagens Nyheter: “My songs may feel positive and happy on the surface, but there is a streak of melancholy in them. These darker undertones are also in the film, but it will definitely have a happier end. The scriptwriter has corrected my mistakes in an original way.”
En del av mitt hjärta will be directed by Edward af Sillén, and the cast also includes Jonas Karlsson, Johan Ulveson, Pernilla August, Per Andersson and Johan Rheborg. It is slated to premiere Christmas 2019.
