Netflix Picks Up Global Rights For ITV’s Marcella

Netflix have picked up the international rights to ITV’s new eight part thriller Marcella, written by the creator of The Bridge, Hans Rosenfeldt. It will be available on Netflix outside of the UK and Ireland after the end of its first run on ITV from 1st July.

Rosenfeldt said: “I think it’s amazing to be on Netflix, it is probably the best thing that could happen to a TV show at the moment – a bigger audience and worldwide distribution at the same time.”

Larry Tanz, VP of Global Television at Netflix, said: “We got involved with the series early on in the process to gain the opportunity to bring Hans’s great storytelling to our members around the world – right after its initial UK broadcast on ITV.”

Netflix is also co-producing Rita with TV2 Denmark, and recently gave the US remake of Norwegian comedy Maniac a ten episode straight-to-series order starring Jonas Hill and Emma Stone.
