Woody Harrelson Set For Ruben Östlund Satire

In an interview with Aftonbladet, director Ruben Östlund (The Square) has revealed that Woody Harrelson (True Detective) is set to star in his latest movie, Triangle Of Sadness.

Triangle Of Sadness is a satire set in the fashion world that takes place on a luxury cruise which goes awry when the Marxist captain (Woody Harrelson) decides to punish his spoiled passengers by staging a grand dinner during a violent storm, leading to food poisoning and seasickness.

However, when the ship’s passengers and crew become marooned on a deserted island, the power dynamic shifts as a cleaning lady rises through the ranks as the only one able to provide food to the glitterati.

Ruben Östlund told Aftonbladet: “Woody Harrelson will play the part (of the captain)… We had a good meeting, it feels like we have a similar attitude to life and he is very enthusiastic about this role.”

Triangle Of Sadness is Ruben Östlund’s biggest production to date with a budget of €10m and will be shot entirely in English. Filming begins in February next year.
