A White White Day Leads Edda Award Nominees

The Icelandic Film & TV Academy has announced its nominees for the 21st Edda Awards, which has celebrated outstanding achievements in film and television since 1999.

Dominating the list of hopefuls with twelve nods is Hlynur Pálmason’s second feature A White, White Day, about a grieving cop who becomes increasingly obsessed with his wife’s death. Among its nominations are Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography.

Meanwhile, close behind with ten nominations each are Agnes Joy, a tale of family dynamics and teenage rebellion by Silja Hauksdóttir, and Happily Never After, a drama about a couples counsellor who is forced to say goodbye to her ideal of the perfect nuclear family.

Winners of the 2020 Edda Awards were due to be announced during a gala presentation on 20th March at the Origo Arena in Reykjavík. However, it has now been postponed until further notice due to concerns regarding the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
