Adam Pålsson (Before We Die) takes the lead role in eight part C More thriller The Conductor (Dirigenten), adapted by Alexi Bardy from the first book in Camilla Grebe and Paul Leander-Engström’s Moscow Noir trilogy, Dirigenten från Sankt Petersburg.
Inspired by Engström’s own experiences of Russia’s financial market in the 1990s, The Conductor follows Swedish financier Tom Blixen (Adam Pålsson) as he is drawn into a brutal financial power struggle in Moscow as capitalism takes hold after the fall of Communism.
Tom believes that he can handle the corruption that runs through the Russian business community, but a daring venture throws him into conflict with politicians, oligarchs and their violent protectors. He faces danger from invisible and ruthless enemies, but also from himself as ghosts from his past begin to emerge.
Director Mikael Håfström (Evil) said: “This is my first Swedish project in 15 years… I am Swedish and will always have a Swedish perspective, despite all years abroad. So to work with a Swedish character in an international environment – a man who left his country but not his “Swedishness” – makes this an even more personal project.”
