Alexander Skarsgård In Nella Larsen’s Passing

Alexander Skarsgård will star alongside Tessa Thompson, Ruth Negga and André Holland in Rebecca Hall’s directorial debut, Passing.
Adapted by Rebecca Hall from the novel by Nella Larsen, Passing follows the unexpected reunion of high school friends Clare Kendry (Ruth Negga) and Irene Redfield (Tessa Thompson), two African American women who choose to live on opposite sides of the color divide in 1920s Harlem.
Rebecca Hall told Deadline: “Nella Larsen’s Passing is an astonishing book about two women struggling not just with what it meant to be black in America in 1929, but with gender conventions, the performance of femininity, the institution of marriage, the responsibilities of motherhood, and the ways in which all of those forces intersect.”
Passing is currently filming in New York and is slated for release in 2020.
