Alicia Vikander Narrates Epoch Changing Doc

Academy award winner Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider) narrates forthcoming documentary Anthropocene: The Human Epoch, the third collaboration by Jennifer Baichwal, Nicholas de Pencier and Edward Burtynsky.

It is argued that the Holocene Epoch (the period since the last Ice Age) has ended, and we have now entered into the Anthropocene Epoch, where the dominance of humans is causing mass extinction and climate change.

Spanning numerous countries, the film reveals how our mania for conquest defines our relationship to the Earth, from concrete seawalls that cover 60% of China’s mainland coast, to potash mines in Russia’s Ural Mountains, and marble quarries in Italy.

Jennifer Baichwal told Deadline: “Alicia’s exceptional voice, and her considerable talent in knowing how to use it, has elevated our film enormously and brings a beauty and hope to the narration that is crucial. We are deeply honoured by her participation.”

Anthropocene: The Human Epoch receives its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this week.
