Alicia Vikander To Play The Marsh King’s Daughter

Academy award winner Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider) is set to star in Morten Tyldum’s (Headhunters) psychological thriller The Marsh King’s Daughter, adapted by Elle Smith and Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) from the novel by Karen Dionne.

Vikander will play Helena Petterier who lives a quiet, ordinary life with her husband and young daughter. But no one knows the truth about her childhood: her father is the infamous Marsh King, who kidnapped her mother as a teenager and held them both captive in the wilderness for twelve years, until he was eventually caught and sent to prison.

Now, Helena is forced to confront her past as her father escapes from prison, leaving two guards dead. To keep her family safe she must find him and take him down, and he raised her with all the skills she will need for the job.

David Kosse, President of the film’s distributor, STXinternational, said “The Marsh King’s Daughter is one of the most hypnotic thrillers you’ll ever experience… and who better than Morten Tyldum to direct this psychologically gripping story into a complex yet riveting tale about captivity and redemption.”

The Marsh King’s Daughter is slated to begin principal photography this summer.
