AMC Networks Strikes Deal With Iceland Prisoners

Icelandic drama Prisoners (Fangar) has revealed on its Facebook page that a deal was struck with AMC Networks at Berlinale to bring the show to North America, UK, Australia, New Zealand via its Shudder and Sundance Now streaming services.

Prisoners, which won a record ten Edda Awards on Sunday, follows a woman whose life is turned upside down when she is incarcerated for a vicious assault that leaves her father in a coma. However, she harbours a dark secret that could tear her family apart, but one that could also set her free.

Head of TV Sales at Global Screen, Alexandra Heidrich, said: “We are very happy to see Prisoners heading to all of the major English language territories. It is targeted at an educated, urban audience (and) we are convinced that it will be a great success.”
