TV2 Danmark has announced that lead singer of Aqua, Lene Nystrøm, will star alongside Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen in the new ten-part series of Klovn (Klown) which started filming on Monday in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen.
For six series and two films, Casper Christensen’s wife has been played by Iben Hjejle (Dicte), but as the franchise returns to the small screen after an extended hiatus, the couple are now divorced and Lene Nystrøm will play Casper’s new spouse.
Lene Nystrøm told TV2: “I’m a big fan of Klovn and have seen virtually every episode and both of the movies.. I have to play an extreme version of myself where I handle things in my own way… the series is based very much on improvisation, which I really enjoy.”
However, this is not Lene Nystrøm’s first acting role, having previously starred in Ole Bornedal’s Deliver Us from Evil, Norwegian crime series Varg Veum and Danish drama Lulu og Leon.
It has not yet been confirmed when series seven of Klovn will air, but is expected to be in 2018.
