As In Heaven Premiere Set For Toronto

Tea Lindeburg’s directorial feature debut As In Heaven (Du som er i himlen), adapted from Marie Bregendahl’s breakthrough 1914 novel A Night of Death (En dødsnat), is set to receive its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival (9 – 18 September) ahead of the San Sebastián Film Festival (17 – 25 September) where it will compete in the main competition.
One day at the end of the 1800s, 14-year-old Lise’s life is changed forever. She is the eldest of her siblings, the first in her family to go to school and full of hope and confidence in life. But when her mother goes into labor, it quickly appears that something is wrong. As night falls and the labour progresses, Lise begins to understand that a day that began in childhood might end with her becoming the woman of the house.
The cast includes Flora Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl (The Land of Glass) as Lise, with Ida Cæcilie Rasmussen (Ride Upon The Storm) and Thure Lindhardt (The Bridge) as her mother and father, alongside Stine Fischer Christensen (Darkland) as her aunt and Lisbet Dahl (Rita) as her grandmother.
Tea Lindeburg, a graduate of the alternative Danish film school Super16, is the creator of Netflix supernatural thriller Equinox based on her podcast series Equinox 1985 which was nominated for the 2017 Prix d’Italia.
