Baasmo Christiansen Leaves Børning Franchise

When Børning 3 starts filming next spring it will be bigger and more raw, and this time it’s going to Germany where it will end in a hilarious race at the Nürburgring. However, franchise star Anders Baasmo Christiansen will be missing from this instalment.

He told Dagbladet: “The Børning ride has been fun, but it can go on without me…. The reason I’m not on board for Børning 3 is that it clashes with a lengthy foreign film shoot and my domestic situation as the father of a young child. I simply do not have the time.”

The scheduling conflict arises from a commitment to play alongside Léa Seydoux (Spectre) in an English language adaptation of Milan Fust’s Hungarian literary classic, The Story of My Wife, written and directed by Oscar nominee Ildiko Enyedi (On Body and Soul).

But producer John M. Jacobsen doesn’t believe there is any cause for alarm: “We aren’t changing anything about the concept or the script. We will replace Baasmo Christiansen with another actor. It’s like replacing James Bond.”

Directed by Hallvard Bræin, Børning 3 begins filming in May 2019 with a theatrical release slated for August 2020.
