BBC Four Adds Modus To International Drama Slate

BBC Four has acquired eight part Swedish crime drama Modus, which is loosely based on Anne Holt’s best-selling novels. It has not been confirmed when it will broadcast.

In the first season of Modus, the autistic daughter of former FBI criminal psychologist Inger Johanne Vik (Melinda Kinnaman) witnesses a murder, which draws Vik into the investigation of a series of brutal attacks.

Vik quickly uncovers a connection between the attacks and an extremely dangerous international network. Aided by Detective Ingvar Nymann (Henrik Norlén), a dramatic hunt begins for an ice cold killer.

“Modus is an exciting atmospheric thriller with an icy core,” said Sue Deeks, BBC Head of Programme Acquisitions. “It is perfect for Saturday nights on BBC Four.”

Josefine Tengblad, TV4 Drama Director, said: “This is the best thing that could happen… It sets the bar for how the series will continue its international travels.”

The first season of Modus averaged a million viewers in Sweden when it premiered in September, and a second season has been ordered by TV4.
