BBC Four Returns To The Bridge

BBC Four has struck a deal with global distributor ZDF for the UK rights to show all four seasons of acclaimed thriller The Bridge (Bron / Broen), which will also be made available to stream on iPlayer.

Winner of the Golden Nymph Award for Best European Drama, The Bridge stars Sofia Helin as emotionally challenged Swedish detective Saga Norén who is forced to collaborate on cross-border investigations with her Danish counterparts, played by Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve) and Thure Lindhardt (The Last Kingdom).

The Bridge originally aired on BBC Four between 2012 and 2015, but was such a hit that it moved to BBC Two for its final season in 2018 and has proved such a popular format that it has been remade five times with versions for the UK/France, USA/Mexico, Estonia/Russia, Malaysia/Singapore and Germany/Austria.

VP for ZDFE Drama, Robert Franke, said: “Every once in a while, a drama comes along that is so brilliantly written and acted, it transcends language barriers and has audiences begging for more. The Bridge, with one of the most captivating female detectives ever to grace the small screen, belongs in that category. A timeless classic which British audiences will, once again, get a chance to enjoy.”
