Beck Begins Filming Season Eight

C More has announced that Beck begins filming season eight next week, comprising four new films (43-46). Martin Beck (Peter Haber) is confirmed to return although he will face major life changes following the events in The Prodigal Son. Be warned: minor spoilers lay ahead…
Beck season eight picks things up directly from where we last saw Martin Beck at the end of season seven – on the operating table, hovering between life and death. But how did it go and is it even possible for Martin to continue his work as police chief?
Meanwhile, the team continue their work under the leadership of Alex (Jennie Silfverhjelm) with Oskar (Måns Nathanaelson), Jenny (Anna Asp), Ayda (Elmira Arikan) and Steinar (Kristofer Hivju) confirmed to return, alongside former undercover police officer Josef Eriksson (Martin Wallström).
Alex is really pleased to have Josef as back up despite the rumours circulating about his techniques. But the murders to be investigated are becoming more and more serious and carried out by increasingly challenging perpetrators from all walks of life, and Josef fits in perfectly.
Executive Producer, Niva Westlin Dahl, said: “What I can reveal about the new season is that almost everything is business as usual, but there will be some personal changes for Martin Beck, and you might say that he gets a new focus. Also, we have four very different and really nerve-wracking cases this season.”
The first film of Beck season eight, based on characters created by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö, is slated to premiere on C More during the Winter of 2021 / 2022.
