A young gang member is found murdered and the evidence points to a drug cartel that Klas Fredén has had under surveillance for some time. He allows Alex Beijer and her team to conduct their murder investigation in parallel but the pair soon end up on a collision course with each other, which draws Martin Beck into the case.

During a routine police check, a macabre discovery is made in the boot of a car. Josef and Oskar find themselves in the crosshairs of a seemingly cold-blooded killer, but not everything is as it seems. Meanwhile, as they investigate the murder, the team is brought under severe external pressure and also from within.

When one of the candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize is brutally stabbed to death in central Stockholm just after presenting evidence of illegal warfare to representatives from The Hague. The team suspects it to be politically motivated, but some fear that Alex’s objectivity may be compromised having worked with the key witness while in the Middle East.
42. The Prodigal Son | Den förlorade sonen
A jawbone is found in the middle of the forest, but when the rest of the body is found it turns out that it has recently been moved and is identified as Viktor Eklund. Martin Beck investigated his disappearance five years ago, but the case file isn’t up to Martin’s usual meticulous standards and Alex thinks that it lacks important information.
