June al-Baqee, a newly returned foreign fighter, who fought against ISIS in Syria, uncovers evidence of Danish soldiers being killed while fighting in Syria, despite there being no official acknowledgement of their involvement. Then she is kidnapped, but only Philip Nørgaard, a former police Terror Task Force chief currently on leave, seems to believe that she really is in danger.
Philip Norgaard and hostage taker Mahdi race to find June when she escapes her captors. Philip follows her trail to the ferry between Denmark and Sweden and warns the captain that there is a kidnapping in progress. The captain raises the alarm and the police Terror Task Force are alerted, but this time without Philip to lead them.
June’s kidnappers highjack the ferry and threaten to kill the ferry’s passengers, with Philip among them, unless she gives herself up. Meanwhile, the authorities, alerted by a silent alarm, begin to prepare a plan of action.
With Philip locked in the kitchen freezer, the kidnappers force June to reveal the location of her phone, which contains comprising material from Syria. Yusuf warns Danish intelligence that if any attempt is made to rescue the ferry hostages, then they will all be killed. Back on shore, SP and Simon are visited by Mahdi’s wife.
The freezer, with June and Philip locked inside, is reaching dangerously cold temperatures and Yusuf’s fury is unleashed on them when he discovers that June has not given him her real mobile phone number. Meanwhile, Rami’s behaviour becomes increasingly reckless.
A woman’s body is discovered in the forest with June’s fingerprints on the murder weapon, and Yusuf uses Philip’s phone to demand a plane. With Philip neutralized, a startled Terror Task Force is running out of options and are left with no other options than to accept the kidnappers’ demands.
The Terror Task Force finally has a lead on the location of June’s phone, but the hostages have been booby-trapped with Yusuf threatening to detonate. On the ferry, time is running out for the hostages and Philip must risk his own life to help them as the ferry approaches land.
As the ferry docks in Provestenen, Beate greets Philip, who sees June chasing Rami in the distance as she makes one last desperate attempt to carry out her mission. Grabbing a gun, Philip follows them into a dockside warehouse to make sure that it doesn’t cost June her life.
