Beware Of Children Leads Amanda Award Nominees

The nominees have been revealed for the 2020 Amanda Awards, which celebrates the achievements of Norwegian cinema. The winners will be announced during the 48th Norwegian Film Festival in Haugesund on 14th August in a ceremony hosted by Odd-Magnus Williamson.

Dag Johan Haugerud’s Beware Of Children (Barn), which traces the dramatic aftermath of a tragic event in a middle class suburb, leads the pack with ten nominations and is represented in all major categories including Best Film and Best Director. It won the Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film at Göteborg earlier this year

Maria Sødahl’s Hope (Håp), starring Andrea Bræin Hovig and Stellan Skarsgård, follows close behind with eight nominations for its tale of a couple’s neglected love that becomes exposed as their lives break down in the face of terminal cancer.

Meanwhile, Ingvild Søderlind’s debut film All Foreigners Keep Their Curtains Closed (Alle utlendinger har lukka gardiner), about young love in Norway, and Jorunn Myklebust Syversen’s Disco, which stars Josefine Frida Pettersen as a freestyle dancing champion facing a crisis of faith, both have a respectable five nominations each.
