Björn Runge’s The Wife Set To Close San Sebastian

The European premiere of Björn Runge’s The Wife, starring Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction) and Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones), is set to close the 65th San Sebastian Film Festival (22 – 30 September).

The Wife, written by Jane Anderson based on the novel Meg Wolitzer, tells the tale of a woman who has spent forty years spent sacrificing her own talent, dreams and ambitions for the sake of her husband’s glittering literary career.

Their fateful pact has built a marriage upon uneven compromises. And Joan’s reached her breaking point. On the eve of Joe’s Nobel Prize for Literature, the crown jewel in a spectacular body of work, Joan’s coup de grace is to confront the biggest sacrifice of her life and secret of his career.

Director Björn Runge was last at San Sebastian in 2011 with Happy End in the festival’s official selection, and was rewarded with the Jury Prize for Best Cinematography.
