Black Lake Thriller To Air On BBC Four In The UK

BBC Four has acquired eight-part Swedish thriller Black Lake (Svartsjön), about a group of young friends and the unsettling chain of events that are put in motion when they visit an abandoned ski resort.

The remote and neglected Black Lake has been closed for years when Johan (Filip Berg) invites his friends to stay there. He dreams of reopening the isolated hotel and restoring it to former glories, but what begins as a fun research trip soon takes a sinister turn.

On the very first night, Johan’s girlfriend, Hanne (Sarah-Sofie Boussnina), is woken by a sickening thudding noise coming from the cellar. The landlord refuses to let them investigate. It turns out the resort was closed after a family were found dead, strangled.

One by one, members of the group wake with bloodshot eyes following nightmares of being strangled. With fear and danger spiralling, Hanne becomes convinced that supernatural forces wish them ill. Who can be trusted? Who will survive?

Black Lake will air on BBC Four in the UK later this year.
