Blackport, Furia & Kamikaze Compete At Series Mania

Series Mania has announced that Blackport (Iceland), Furia (Norway) and Kamikaze (Denmark) will compete for Best International Drama at this year’s festival in Lille, France (26th August – 2nd September).
The festival will welcome more than fifty series from over forty territories showcased at the physical event with fierce competition for the international prize coming from Anna (Italy), Germinal (France), Hamlet (Turkey), Jerusalem (Israel), and The Echo Of Your Voice (Israel).
The award for Best International Drama will be decided by a jury chaired by Hagai Levi, co-creator of Golden Globe winner The Affair, whilst guests of honour at the festival include Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, Dexter showrunner Clyde Philipps and The Good Fight actress Audra McDonald.

Inspired by true events, Blackport opens in the early 1980s when the fishing industry was booming in Iceland and follows a young married couple who build a small fishing empire in a village along with a group of friends, but see their livelihoods threatened when the government starts enforcing restrictive fishing quotas.
