Borgen Season Four To Premiere Next Month

Borgen – Riget, Magten og Æren (Kingdom, Power and Glory), the long awaited fourth season of the critically acclaimed political thriller, will premiere next month on DR1 in Denmark.
Almost 10 years have passed since we last saw former Prime Minister Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen) and now she is back at Borgen as the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. The story begins with a drilling company discovering oil in Greenland, and develops into an international battle for the Arctic.
The cast also includes Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Lars Knutzon, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Simon Bennebjerg, Johanne Louise Schmidt, Magnus Millang, Özlem Saglanmak and Lars Mikkelsen.
DR Head Of Drama, Henriette Marienlund, said: “It will also be a very new version of Borgen, because the universe has expanded from just being about Denmark to being about the whole world’s power games, where relations with Greenland are put to the test, and both the US and China become key players.”
“I think we have succeeded in making a series that takes the universe that many of us know and love, and brought it up to date… It happens in a way that is both relevant to our time, and where it still stays true to the fundamentally human drama. In Borgen it is clear to see what choices are made in the corridors of power and the personal cost of that.”
Borgen – Riget, Magten og Æren, written by series creator Adam Price and directed by Per Fly, premieres 13th February on DR1 and will be available globally on Netflix later in 2022.
