Bullets Wins Hearts Of Drama Buyers At Cannes

Variety reports that Finnish thriller Bullets, written by Pesonen Matti Laine (Bordertown) and Kirsi Vikman (Mother of Mine), was presented with the inaugural MIPDrama Buyers’ Summit Coup de Coeur Award on Sunday in Cannes.
The MIPDrama Buyers’ Summit focuses on new trends and upcoming series in production, and provides buyers with a first look at six new high-end dramas, selected for their writing and production values, originality and worldwide appeal.
Bullets follows two strong women. Mari Saari (Krista Kosonen) is a cop who goes undercover to infiltrate the inner circle of Chechan Black Widow, Madina Taburova (Sibel Kekilli), who is planning a high profile assassination. However, Mari forms a bond with Madina that conflicts with her duties as a cop.
The Coup de Coeur winner faced stiff competition from Arctic Circle (Finland), Cleaning Up (UK), Gigantes (Spain), Pagan Peak (Germany/Austria), and Trigger (Russia). All six series are in the early stages of production and have never been presented to a festival or market before.
Head of Content Insight at Eurodata TV, Avril Blondelot, said: “Bullets features big, strong independent female characters, a dark atmosphere with a powerful and meaningful topical subject, and storylines which intertwine, making it highly thrilling.”
