Camilla Ahlgren Leads Barracuda Queens For Netflix

Netflix has announced that production has begun for new Swedish heist drama Barracuda Queens, penned by a team of writers led by Camilla Ahlgren (The Bridge), in which a group of affluent young women exploit a world in which some get away with crime while others do not.

Inspired by true events, the Barracuda Queens are a group of disaffected teenage girls who, bored of their privileged lives in the affluent Stockholm suburb of Djursholm, become involved in an escalating campaign of house burglaries targeting their naive rich neighbors. By day they are high achieving students and daughters but by night, they are ruthless thieves.

Head writer, Camilla Ahlgren, said: “This is a unique series that I have never been close to creating or writing before… Our ambition is to create something fun, challenging and fresh and at the same time tell a story about the times we live in – with five smart upper-class girls from Djursholm who know no limits as the main characters.”

The cast includes Alva Bratt as Lollo Millkvist, Tindra Monsen as Klara Rapp, Sandra Zubovic as Frida Rapp, Tea Stjärne as Mia Thorstensson, Sarah Gustafsson as Amina Khalil, Carsten Björnlund as Lars Millkvist, Izabella Scorupco as Margareta Millkvist, Max Ulveson as Calle Millkvist, Johannes Kuhnke as Claes Rapp and Mirja Turestedt as Viveca Rapp.

Barracuda Queens, directed by Amanda Adolfsson (Bonus Family), is slated to launch globally on Netflix in 2023.
