Casting Revealed For Lars von Trier’s Kingdom Exodus

Viaplay has revealed casting details for Lars von Trier’s The Kingdom Exodus, the conclusion to legendary drama Riget about the fight between good and evil at a Danish hospital. Ghita Nørby, Peter Mygind and Søren Pilmark will reprise their previous roles, joined by Bodil Jørgensen (Badehotellet) and Nicolas Bro (Riders of Justice).

As the the strange story continues on the neurosurgical ward of Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet, the old feud between the Swedes and the Danes is still fiery, and the constitution of the Kingdom is fragile. A curse still lies on the old hospital, but what seemed fictitious in the first two seasons may not be so unreal after all.

Viaplay Chief Content Officer, Filippa Wallestam, said: “The remarkable evolution of Nordic drama over the past 25 years began with Lars von Trier’s The Kingdom. Ironically, a show where nothing seems real set new standards for what’s possible. The Kingdom Exodus is set to raise the bar even further and will have a star cast to match.”

The Kingdom Exodus, written by Lars von Trier and Niels Vørsel, is currently filming in Copenhagen and is expected to premiere on Viaplay in 2022, followed by a broadcast TV premiere on DR in Denmark.
