Cinematic Release For Social Distancing Drama Orca

Forthcoming social distancing feature Orca, directed by Josephine Bornebusch (Love Me), is set to receive a theatrical release in Sweden two weeks ahead of its debut on premium streaming service Viaplay.
Orca is a star-studded drama about love, loss and intimacy in this age of social distancing. Through digital screens we follow a range of characters who are confronted with life’s most difficult issues whilst isolating and examines how we handle life choices, broken relationships, loneliness and even a mother’s dying wish under such circumstances.
The idea came to Josephine Bornebusch when filming for romantic country music drama Harmonica was drawn to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic. So, in order to make this project a reality, Bornebusch worked with a skeleton production crew and only one actor at a time, with clear procedures in place to minimise the risk of infection.
The cast includes Johan Rheborg (The 100 Year Old Man), Alba August (Becoming Astrid), Gustav Lindh (Queen Of Hearts), Joel Spira (Thicker Than Water), Vera Vitali (Bonus Family) and Tova Magnusson (Greyzone).
Viaplay Chief Content Officer, Filippa Wallestam, said: “I am incredibly impressed with how Josephine managed to gather together Sweden’s acting elite in such a short time for this gripping and relevant story. Orca will give many of us pause for thought about how easy it can be to forget how important it is to nurture relationships with those closest to you.”
Orca, alluding to the Latin name for killer whales which are thought to be one of the most social of species, premieres in selected Swedish cinemas on 30th October and will be available to stream on Viaplay from 13th November 2020.
