Clara Sola Leads Guldbagge 2022 Nominees

During a press conference at Filmhuset in Stockholm on Thursday, the nominees were revealed for the 2022 Guldbagge Awards which celebrates outstanding achievements in the Swedish film industry.
Leading the field with nine nominations, including Best Film and Best Director, is Clara Sola with a tale about a withdrawn 40-year-old woman who experiences a sexual and mystical awakening as she begins a journey to free herself from the repressive religious and social conventions which have dominated her life.
Close behind with eight nominations is family film A Christmas Tale about a boy from a wealthy family who, while working at the post office, steals Christmas gifts from the wealthy to give to the poor people of Stockholm.
Meanwhile, Ninja Thyberg’s spotlight on the sex industry, Pleasure, and The Emigrants, about a family in the 1850s who embark on a dangerous voyage in the hope of a better life in America, were tied with seven nominations each.
Finally, Sweden’s submission for Best International Film at the 94th Academy Awards, Tigers, secured five nominations for its coming of age drama which tells the true story of 16-year-old football prodigy Martin Bengtsson’s move to a top Italian club, whereupon his childhood dream turned into a nightmare.
The 2022 Gudbagge Awards will be presented by Gina Dirawi at Cirkus in Stockholm on 24th January and broadcast live on SVT.
