Compartment No 6 Nominated At Golden Globe Awards

Finland’s submission for the 94th Academy Awards, Compartment No 6 (Hytti nro 6) directed by Juho Kuosmanen, has been nominated for Best Non-English Language Film at the 79th Golden Globe Awards, facing competition from Drive My Car (Japan), The Hand of God (Italy), A Hero (France / Iran) and Parallel Mothers (Spain).
Compartment No 6, set against the backdrop of 1980s Soviet Union, follows a young Finnish woman (Seidi Haarla) who flees a love triangle to take the Trans Siberian Railway. She is forced to share her journey with a Russian miner (Yuriy Borisov) who hates the world, but the long journey brings them closer and changes their perspective on life.
Meanwhile, Denmark’s submission for the upcoming Oscars, Flee (Flugt) directed by Jonas Poher Rasmussen, has been nominated for Best Animated Film against Encanto, Luca, My Sunny Maad and Raya & The Last Dragon.
Flee is the extraordinary true story of Amin, on the verge of a marriage which compels him to reveal his hidden past for the first time. This secret that he has been hiding for over twenty years threatens to ruin the life he has built for himself which began with a dramatic journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan to Denmark.
The 79th Golden Globe Awards will be held on 9th January, though there is currently no television deal in place since NBC terminated its contract in May.
