Danish Model Freja Beha Makes Acting Debut In Clark

Netflix has revealed that Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen, The Queen Of Cool, is set to make her acting debut alongside Bill Skarsgård in six-part drama Clark, about celebrity Swedish gangster Clark Olofsson who escaped prisons and committed robberies all across Europe.

Based on Clark Olofsson’s autobiography Vafan var det som hände, this Swedish language series will cover his life from the beginning of his criminal career in the 1960s through to present day as one of the most controversial personalities in contemporary Swedish history.

Convicted of several counts of drug trafficking, attempted murder, assault, theft and dozens of bank robberies, he has spent more than half his life behind bars and it was one of his failed bank robberies in the 1970s that gave rise to the concept of Stockholm Syndrome.

The series stars Bill Skarsgård (Castle Rock) as Clark Olofsson alongside an all star cast that includes Adam Lundgren (Chernobyl), Malin Levanon (Britt-Marie Was Here), Vilhelm Blomgren (Midsommar), Peter Viitanen (Real Humans), Linus Wahlgren (Blue Eyes) and Alexander Karim (The Lawyer).

Director Jonas Åkerlund said: “As a director I’m always looking for strong characters, and Clark’s life and story is filled with absorbing and colorful characters. Casting the right actors to fill these roles was key and I’m super pleased to have this amazing all star cast, down to the smallest roles.”

“The world that revolves around Clark, the people who were affected by him, who shaped him, who put him behind bars, who loved him, each one has their own strong personality and unique experience. I’m so pleased we have brought these characters to life with an incredible all star cast.”

“Without such a talented cast, we wouldn’t be able to tell the story of how a black hole like Clark can suck colorful individuals into his center of gravity. They really complete the story of the Stockholm Syndrome.”
