Danish Psychosia For Venice Critics Week

Psychosia (Psykosia), written and directed by Marie Grahtø, has been selected to compete during the Critics’ Week sidebar of the 76th Venice International Film Festival (28 August – 7 September).

Eccentric but diligent researcher Viktoria (Lisa Carlehed) is invited to a psychiatric ward to treat suicidal patient Jenny (Victoria Carmen Sonne), and through their intimate nightly conversations a tight bond forms between them.

For the first time in her life, Viktoria slowly opens up and allows someone to get close to her. But as her relationship with Jenny grows stronger and more intimate, it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems.

Psychosia, also known by its working title Teenage Jesus, is a continuation of Marie Grahtø’s 2014 graduation film Teenland made whilst at the Super16 independent film school in Copenhagen. The cast also includes Trine Dyrholm (The Legacy) as Doctor Klein
