Darkland & Star Boys Compete At Moscow Film Festival

Danish masked avenger movie Darkland (Underverden) and Finnish sexual revolution drama Star Boys (Kaiken se kestää) have been selected to compete in the main competition programme at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival, which takes place June 22nd to 29th 2017.
The jury for the main competition comprises Finnish director and producer Jörn Donner, Spanish director and screenwriter Albert Serra, Iranian director and producer Reza Mirkarimi, and Italian actress Ornella Muti.
DARKLAND:
In Darkland, directed by Fenar Ahmad, Zaid (Dar Salim) is a successful heart surgeon with an expensive apartment and pregnant girlfriend. One night he gets a visit from his brother Yasin, who is desperate for money, but he refuses.
Soon after, Yasin is found beaten to death and Zaid is overcome with guilt. As guilt gives way to anger, Zaid becomes a masked avenger and takes on Copenhagen’s criminal underworld in his quest for justice.
STAR BOYS:
Star Boys, directed by Visa Koiso-Kanttila, is a story of two families being torn apart by disintegrating moral values when the sexual revolution arrives at a conservative and religious small town in Northern Finland.
The film takes us inside the lives of two families through the eyes of the children, 13-year-old Star boys, forced to observe from too close a distance the consequences of their parents’ sexual liberation and endless need for love and freedom.
