Denmark Draws Up Shortlist For Oscar Contention

On Wednesday, the Danish Oscar committee announced a shortlist of three films to represent the country for Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards: Peter Schønau Fog’s You Disappear, Fenar Ahmad’s Darkland, and Henrik Ruben Genz’ Word of God.
The committee will announce its finalist on 20th September, which will then be considered by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in drawing up its final shortlist of five films on 23rd January. The winner will be announced at the 90th Academy Awards on 4th March 2018 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Set in the late eighties, the film revolves around a self-appointed almighty God (Søren Malling) with a mild dependency on alcohol who rules over his family in the detached house where they live.
