Dome Karukoski Directs The Beast Must Die For Britbox

The Beast Must Die, the first original drama for Britbox UK, has begun production on the Isle of Wight with Dome Karukoski (Tom Of Finland) on board to direct.

The five-part revenge thriller has been adapted from the 1938 Nicholas Blake novel by Gaby Chiappe (Vera) and tells the story of a grieving mother who infiltrates the life of a man she believes killed her son.

The cast includes Geraldine James (Utopia), Maeve Dermody (Marcella), Jared Harris (Chernobyl), Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife), Billy Howle (On Chesil Beach) and Nathaniel Parker (Vanity Fair).

Dome Karukoski said: “I never anticipated to get so engaged with this evocative vendetta from a grieving mother, but that happened – and suddenly The Beast Must Die became an obsession for me.”

“Pain and loss cause anger and the need to find revenge; to find a target. I find the story intriguing as to whether the beast is the person we want to take revenge upon or if the beast is within us – one who wants to replace grief with hate.”

The Beast Must Die will premiere exclusively on BritBox UK in 2021.
