Dome Karukoski To Direct Tolkien Early Years Biopic

Dome Karukoski (Tom Of Finland) is set to direct a biopic about J.R.R. Tolkien, written by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford, which has been in development since 2013.

The film will focus on Tolkien’s formative years where he finds love, friendship and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school, leading up to the outbreak of World War I in 1914.

After completing his degree, Tolkien served as an officer with the Lancashire Fusiliers from 1916 to 1920, then went on to wrote The Hobbit and the first two Lord Of The Rings novels whilst working at Pembroke College, Oxford.
