Downhill Hollywood Remake For Force Majeure

Deadline reports that Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus will star in Downhill, a Hollywood remake of Ruben Ostlund’s dramedy Force Majeure (Turist), with Nat Faxon and Jim Rash confirmed to direct.
Downhill follows a family who narrowly escape an avalanche during a skiing holiday in the Alps, and are subsequently thrown into disarray as they are forced to re-evaluate their lives and how they really feel about each other.
The source material, Force Majeure, won Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at Cannes, was nominated for a Golden Globe and brought director Ruben Östlund to the world stage. His follow-up, The Square, went on to win the Palme d’Or at Cannes and gave Sweden a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars.
Producer, Anthony Bregman, told Deadline: “Downhill is a tale of bad judgement and moral weakness, so how fitting that Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell embody those values. Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, of course, are more than qualified to capture the fallout.”
Downhill begins filming early 2019 in Austria.
