Dystopia Unleashes Supernatural Forces In Swedish Forest

Viaplay has announced Dystopia, an eight-part Swedish horror in which supernatural powers are unleashed by post-apocalyptic role play in the Swedish forests.

For a group of thrill-seeking young Swedes, an abandoned Cold War-era factory deep in the wilderness seems the ideal setting for a live role play designed to push them to their physical and mental limits. But the game soon turns deadly serious when a series of mysterious events unfold, awakening dark forces in each of them…

The cast includes Madeleine Martin (Alex), Johan Hafezi (Jägarna), Happy Jankell (The Ambassador), Johan Hedenberg (The Perfect Patient), Lola Zackow (Conspiracy of Silence), Erika Cardenas Hedenberg (The Restaurant), Maja Rung (Honour) and Christian Svensson (24).

Viaplay Chief Content Officer, Filippa Wallestam, said: “Just like a creepy old building in the woods, the Nordic horror genre is both unexplored and intriguing… High-quality horror resonates particularly well with young adult viewers, and we see great potential for an adrenaline-fueled show like Dystopia that brings together some of the Nordic region’s most talented rising stars.”

Dystopia, directed by Richard Jarnhed, is currently filming in Lindesberg and is set to premiere on Viaplay across the Nordic region in 2021.
