Emmy Win For Chernobyl Director Johan Renck

Johan Renck (The Last Panthers) was named Best Director at the 71st Annual Emmy Awards on Sunday for the HBO / Sky co-production Chernobyl, which also picked up Best Limited Series and Best Writing for a Limited Series.
Written by Craig Mazin (The Huntsman), Chernobyl follows those who investigated the catastrophic nuclear power station disaster in April 1986, reveals how and why it happened, and tells the remarkable stories of those who risked their lives to save others.
However, despite a raft of awards including seven Creative Emmys last weekend, Craig Mazin has confirmed that there will be no second season: “We will not be doing that. We told a story in a place in time. We did it pretty darn well and it’s time to start talking about other places and other times.”
