Emmy Nomination Opens Talks For US Remake Of Eyewitness

Anneke von der Lippe’s nomination for an International Emmy for her role as Sheriff Helen Sikkeland in Eyewitness (Øyevitne) may lead to a US remake.
“There are no Danish or Swedish series nominated this year, so we are glad that we can represent the Nordic countries. For Anneke von der Lippe it is a great achievement – even more than when she was nominated in 2005, since international TV drama has evolved very much since then,” says NRK Drama Director Ivar Køhn.
“We are in talks about an American remake… There should be clarification within a few weeks, that’s all I can say,” says Køhn.
Eyewitness is a six part thriller written and directed by Jarl Emsell Larsen, and is currently available on DVD in the UK. It tells the story of two 15 year old boys who secretly meet up in the forest, only to witness a blood bath. They are seen, but escape and vow to keep what they have seen a secret, out of fear of retribution and fear that their own secret might be revealed.
