Euthanizer To Represent Finland At The Oscars

The Finnish Oscar Committee has announced that its entry for Best Foreign Language Film Oscar at the 91st Academy Awards is Euthanizer (Armomurhaaja), directed by Teemu Nikki, which won five Jussi awards and was recently nominated for this year’s Nordic Council Film Prize.
The film follows Veijo (Matti Onnismaa), an antisocial mechanic who euthanises sick and old pets on the side. Despite their bleak future, Veijo treats the animals with respect as they meet their end, but is less merciful to their neglectful owners.
However, things begin to unravel for Veijo when he decides to adopt a healthy dog that was meant to be put down. When its original owner finds out that it is still alive, a collision course is set in motion.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce its final five nominees for Best Foreign Language Film on 22nd January, with the Oscars taking place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on 24th February 2019.
