Fares Fares (Department Q) is set to make his directorial debut with forthcoming Netflix thriller A Day And A Half, in which he will star alongside Alexej Manvelov (Before We Die) and Alma Pöysti (Tove).
In an attempt to be reunited with his daughter, Artan (Alexej Manvelov) takes his ex-wife Louise (Alma Pöysti) hostage and embarks on an adrenaline fuelled road trip through rural Sweden with her and police officer Lukas (Fares Fares) while having the police hot on their heels.
Fares Fares said: “I’m really looking forward for this story to unfold on screen and feel privileged to have some of the best cast and team on board to make that happen.”
Director of Nordic Film for Netflix, Claire Willats, added: “We are honoured that Netflix will be the home of the first film directed by Fares Fares and are excited to work with such a talented team… A Day and a Half is in essence an intimate story about loss, lies, betrayals, love, prejudice and family – packaged in a tense thriller format.”
Inspired by true events, A Day And A Half begins filming this month and is slated to premiere on Netflix worldwide in 2023.
