Fede Alvarez Confirms Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Sequel

Horror director Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe) has confirmed to Digital Spy that the fourth book in the Millennium series, The Girl in the Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz, will be made into a movie written Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).

Although two Hollywood sequels were originally planned for the 2011 adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, based on Stieg Larsson’s Millenium trilogy, they have been dropped in favour of a lower budget David Lagercrantz sequel.

It is not yet known if Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig or Stellan Skarsgard will reprise their roles as Lisbeth Salander, Mikael Blomkvist and Martin Vanger, but Sony is reportedly keen to cast Swedish star Alicia Vikander as Lisbeth Salander.

Alvarez told Digital Spy: “I cannot tell you that much about the project other than yes… I will be directing, and we’re very excited about it… We’re starting with a great script by Steven Knight and we’ll continue working on it to put our style and imprint in it.”
