Finland Greets Kian Lawley As Perfect Commando

Finnish streaming service Elisa Viihde has ordered new ten part culture shock comedy Perfect Commando, starring US actors Kian Lawley (Zac & Mia,) and Katherine C. Hughes (My Dead Ex), alongside local cast members Johannes Holopainen (Heavy Trip), Fanni Noroila (HasBeen) and Tommi Korpela (Bullets).

Perfect Commando follows Van (Kian Lawley) and Rachel (Katherine C. Hughes), whose carefree lives in California are turned upside down when Van visits his mother’s home country of Finland and he is subsequently thrown into military service because of his dual citizenship.

Executive producer, Roope Lehtinen, said: “We wanted to make a comedy that would be youthful, international and edgy. Even though the main characters are American, the series also represents a contemporary Finland. The comedy effect stems from the interests of individuals and a community colliding.”

Head of Content for Elisa Viihde, Ani Korpela, added: “Finnish drama attracts more and more viewers from abroad, and we’re now seeing Finnish comedy rousing a lot of international interest… It’s fantastic to be involved in developing such high-quality drama and comedy shows that meet international standards.”

Perfect Commando is written by Mikko Pöllä (Black Widows) with Jalmari Helander (Rare Exports) on board to direct. It will premiere on Elisa Viihde’s Aitio streaming service early next year.
