Fourth Season Of Borgen Heads To Netflix

A fourth season of Danish political thriller Borgen is in the works, to be written by series creator Adam Price, with Sidse Babett Knudsen and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen confirmed to return. It will premiere on DR1 in Denmark before a global launch on Netflix.

The new series will revisit Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen), who is now Foreign Minister, along with her staff and the media tasked with covering her. Meanwhile, Katrine Fønsmark (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen) has returned to journalism after a stint as Birgitte’s head of press, and has landed a job as news director for a national TV channel.

DR Head Of Drama, Christian Rank, said: “Borgen is a unique Danish story about the political and personal drama that unfolds among the people in charge of leading our country… We look forward to revisiting the universe and the characters to tell a current and highly topical story about a hot political topic with international implications.’’

The first three seasons of Borgen will be available to stream on Netflix later this year, with the new series slated to arrive in 2022.
