Girl In Spider’s Web Movie Based On Three Books

In an interview with Collider, director Fede Alvarez has revealed that his English language adaptation of The Girl In The Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz incorporates elements of books two, three and four in the Millenium series.

Fede Alvarez said: “There was the story in the book that I connected with, but there was a lot of freedom to interpret that and tell my own story. It’s something that I wanted to do because they never made the second or third book, and I think… that you get to learn a lot more about (Lisbeth) and her life and her father in the second or third.”

“Our approach was like, let’s base the storyline on the main events that happen in the fourth book, but let’s take some of the emotional journeys that she goes through, and even kind of the structure of the plot, the things that happen in two and three.”

The Girl In The Spider’s Web, which stars Claire Foy (The Crown) as Lisbeth Salander and Sverrir Gudnason (Borg/McEnroe) as Mikael Blomkvist, is set for a theatrical release on 9th November 2018.
