HBO Scoops The Investigation For USA

HBO has acquired the US rights to The Investigation (Efterforskningen), a true crime drama about the murder of journalist Kim Wall written and directed by Oscar nominee Tobias Lindholm (A War).
The Investigation aims to provide a unique insight into the techniques used by the Copenhagen Homicide Unit led by Jens Møller (Søren Malling) in solving the murder of Kim Wall who disappeared after boarding a midget submarine to interview entrepreneur Peter Madsen.
The submarine sank the next day and Madsen was rescued, claiming that Wall had disembarked safely before the accident. However, over the next three months, Wall’s dismembered body parts began to appear around the area and Madsen was eventually charged with murder.
The star studded cast also includes Pilou Asbæk (Game Of Thrones) as Jakob Buch-Jepsen, with Ingrid and Joachim Wall played by Pernilla August (Star Wars) and Rolf Lassgård (A Man Called Ove).
Director Tobias Lindholm said: “It is with great humility that I have gone into creating The Investigation. There is a great deal of responsibility in choosing to tell stories about violent events from the real world. That is why I am extremely grateful for the support I have received – including from some of Denmark’s and Sweden’s most talented actors.”
The Investigation receives its US premiere 1st February on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. It is set to air on BBC Four in the UK, though a date has yet to be set.
