Hotel Cæsar Celebrates 3000 Episodes With A Musical

Norwegian soap opera Hotel Cæsar is to celebrate 3000 episodes by making the entire episode a musical composed by Stein Johan Grieg Halvorsen (also known as Steinjo), and directed by Thomas Kaiser.

The action unfolds as Juni Anker-Hansen (Anette Hoff) gets a severe head injury and is rushed to hospital. But while she is fighting for her life with her family around her, she has a dream in the form of a musical.

Since Hotel Cæsar opened its doors in 1998, 1150 hours of the show have been produced and it would now take 47 days straight of viewing to catch up with it. Anette Hoff has played the role of Juni Anker-Hansen since the series began.

TV2 Head of Drama, Christopher Haug, says: “It feels wonderful and slightly surreal to reach the 3000th. I am humbled and grateful to all those who have been on the production and to those at TV2 who have worked so hard that we are now writing Norwegian television history.”

The 3000th episode of Hotel Cæsar airs on TV2, Wednesday June 1st, when viewers will also catch their first glimpse of renowned actor Bjørn Skagestad as Kåre Krogstad, a member of “the other Cæsar family”.
