As production begins on ten-part Finnish crime drama Arctic Circle, directed by Hannu Salonen, it has been revealed that Iina Kuustonen (Nurses), Maximilian Brückner (War Horse) and Clemens Schick (Casino Royale) will star.
In Arctic Circle, detective Nina Kautsalo (Iina Kuustonen) finds a prostitute tied up in chains inside a remote cabin in the wilderness, and soon finds two other women dead at the same property.
A mysterious virus is found in the victim’s blood, whereupon German virologist Thomas Lorenz (Maximilian Bruckner) joins the investigation, and the hunt is on for the killer is on. Clemens Schick will play Marcus Eiben, the CEO of a pharmaceutical company, who has previously financed Lorenz’ work.
Arctic Circle begins filming in Finnish Lapland this winter with a budget of €6.5m. It will premiere on Finnish streaming service Elisa Viihde in 2018 and air later on YLE.
