Jake Gyllenhaal Confirmed For Guilty Remake

Variety reports that Denmark’s Oscar submission, The Guilty (Den skyldige) by Gustav Möller, is set for a Hollywood remake with Jake Gyllenhaal attached to star.

Inspired by real events and sold to more than 90 countries, The Guilty finds a police officer expecting a sleepy shift as an emergency dispatcher when he answers a call from a kidnapped woman. Confined to the police station, he is forced to use others as his eyes and ears to find her as his personal demons conspire against him.

Co-producers Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker told Variety: “We saw The Guilty at Sundance and were blown away. Möller’s film masterfully weaves tension into an acute character study… We are honoured to be able to adapt it for American audiences.”

Among its honours, The Guilty won the World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, along with the Nordisk Film Prize at Isbjørnen, and is nominated for Best Actor and Best Script at the forthcoming European Film Awards.
